Chaupimayo joins the tourism value chain at Taqrachullo and Escalerayoc
The Chamber met the rural community to put its technical team at the service of local entrepreneurs. The goal: tourism income should stay where the heritage is.
The Espinar Tourism Chamber met with the authorities and residents of the Chaupimayo Rural Community, in the tourism areas of Taqrachullo and Escalerayoc, Suykutambo district.
The proposal was straightforward: put the Chamber’s team of professionals at the community’s disposal for technical assistance and to arrange training with public and private institutions.
What the training covers
Visitor service, gastronomy, accommodation, guiding, community-based rural tourism, formalisation, tourist safety, environmental management, digital marketing and enterprise development.
The aim is not for the community to watch tourists go by, but to take part in the value chain: to be the ones who cook, host, guide and get paid.
Beyond training
The Chamber will also push for projects in basic sanitation, tourism infrastructure and conservation of natural and cultural heritage, alongside promotion of the Three Canyons of Suykutambo circuit.
Taqrachullo and Escalerayoc have potential to spare. What was missing was organisation.
The underlying principle
That tourism becomes a real source of employment, income and opportunity for rural communities — built on training, organisation and quality service.
